A Cold New Year’s Eve Spent in the Car (True Story)

Hi, friends.  The promised car/teenage son story is below.

Background:  On New Year’s Eve, we helped my oldest son and his family pack a moving van for a cross-state move.  We got home late.  I powered off my phone to protect a 100% charge and went to blessed bed.  The hubbs watched a bit of TV first.  The 16 year-old son stepped onto the patio to have a private conversation with his best friend, who was having girl drama.  (Shocking, I know.)  The hubbs, not knowing said son was out on the patio, locked the door, turned off the lights, and went to bed.

Yes, friends, the teenage son spent the long, cold night in the car. This is the same car he jumped from whilst it was moving in this story.   Thankfully, this time, the car was parked and turned off.  And thankfully, the back seat was packed with pillows and comforters.  We took them along for the packing day in case we wanted to bunk out on oldest son’s floor.

The best part of this story is the texts that came in on my phone the next morning.  Here is  a screen shot of what teenage son said as he was trying to get my attention from the cold, dark outdoors.  FYI:  Myrtle is our dog, who is normally inside on her furry bed near her heater on cold nights, but we were tired and we forgot.

Next post:  We dive into our 2014!  Yay!  Possible alternate post:  Being real about a marriage squabble.  (Epic.)
