This is Howard:
I met Howard on Duval Street in Key West. Howard is 55 years old (Can you believe it?) and he plays the drums as a street performer. The interesting thing is that Howard’s drums are a set of plastic buckets turned upside down. Howard is an excellent drummer, and his buckets sound just like the real thing. We were mesmerized by his playing.
After a few tries and walks away, I got up my courage, and asked Howard if I could take his photo and ask him the Three Little Questions. I’m glad he agreed.
1. What are you thankful for?
That we have peace on earth in America so far. We forget about all of the negativity in the world.
2. What are your challenges?
I don’t compare myself to anyone else’s needs or wants. If I could bring happiness to millions of people, I would do it.
3. What are your dreams?
It would be nice if the Treasury Department would come to my front door and drop off one hundred pounds of one hundred dollar bills.
My just-like-sister Shelia asked him how much that would be. And Howard said:
“It would be enough.”
Howard is originally from Maryland. He started playing in San Francisco, and eventually ended up in Miami. A friend there told Howard that Key West would be a good place to play. He had never heard of Key West, but he decided to come anyway.
Our family is certainly glad he did. He adds his own unique flavor of life and music to the streets of Key West. Thank you, Howard.
Linking up with Ann today at A Holy Experience; counting the things I’m grateful for:
#876: Summer berries and home whipped cream
#877: Giving in and letting my son play all the video games he wants, just for one day
#878: A lazy weekend at the lake
#879: Reading on the deck with a cup of tea
#880: Watching the blazing, red sun slide behind the water
#881: Letting the catfish go
#882: Stargazing from the pier
#883: Husband in his cargo shorts
#884: Heartfelt apologies that wash all the ugliness away
Thank You, God, for so many things in life…the big, the small, the beautiful, the not so. I love You.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
